KATRA: Due to summer vacation the number of devotees on reaching at Katra Mata Vaishno Devi for Darshan due to which there is huge rush of Yatris in Katra. District Police Reasi put special deployment at Katra to Bhawan to manage the rush of Yatris.
Extra sections of manpower of CRPF have also been deployed in the town whereas special deployment from District Police Reasi has been issued.
Shrine Board which has been co-ordinating in managing crowd has requested Traffic Police to deploy special team for traffic management in the town. From security angle, all Nakas have been alerted and eye is being kept on the movement of passers-by at through CCTVat all the Nakas. Police personnel in civvies have been deployed in the Katra town to keepeyes on any suspicious movement of Anti social element.
Whereas, an appeal has also been made to local public of the town to co-operate in providing inputs and managing crowd.
Over 51,000 visit on single day
KATRA: : Over 51,000 pilgrims visited the Cave Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi , a record foot fall on a single day.
As per official figures, 51,191 pilgrims left Katra- the Base Camp of the Shrine, to pay their obeisance.
“This is the highest number of pilgrims to have left for the Holy Cave Shrine in a single day from the time we started keeping record of the pilgrims,” an official of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) said.
He said that on a normal day the number of pilgrims ranges from 25,000 to 30,000 and, on the days of festivals, it goes up to around 40,000.
He said that despite the huge rush, pilgrimage continued normally.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in and around the town so as to ensure safety of the pilgrims visiting the Cave Shrine.
