JAMMU: S.P Vaid took over the charge of Director General of Police, Prisons, from S.K Mishra on Tuesday. Vaid has served the State in different capacities which include SSP Budgam and Udhampur, DIG Jammu Range, DIG Central Kashmir Range, DIG North Kashmir Baramulla, DIG (Adm) PHQ, IGP (Modernization PHQ), IGP Jammu Zone, IGP Crime, J and K.
He also served in Government of India for about three years as Director (Training/ Administration) BPR&D, MHA. He has also been Additional DGP (HQ) and served for four years and three months since November 2011. He has also undergone various trainings with LAPD &FBI Los Angeles (USA) and UK Police, Bramshill and MCTP, New York.
On his joining, a guard of honour was presented to him by the J and K Prison Personnel. In a meeting held today in his office chambers he emphasized on building a vibrant and transparent organization and said that reformation and rehabilitation of prisoners shall be the focus besides infrastructure development and augmentation of security.
