JAMMU: Vaibhav Mehta excelled with win titles winning men singles and under-19 boys singles events in the District Jammu Badminton Championship which was organised by Jammu City and District Badminton Association (JCDBA) at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here on Sunday.
In the men singles final, Vaibhav defeated Gopesh Singh 2-1 (14-21, 21-07, 24-22) and later trounced many time J&I champion, Vipul Saini 15-21, 21-15, 21-16) to bag the coveted title. The men’s doubles final won by the pair of Vipul and Shantul, who beat the duo of Ravdeep and Udayan 21-12, 21-14.
In the valedictory function of the five-day long event, Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma was the chief guest, who gave away the prizes. Present among others were Dr O D Sharma (chairman BAJK), Kamlesh Kumar Shrikul (president JCDBA), Balbir Singh Jamwal (senior vice president JCDBA), D V Sharma (general secretary JCDBA), Anil Gaind, Basanti Bhat, Pawanjit Singh (both vice president JCDBA) and Vikram Jamwal.
The matches conducted under the supervision of Rahul Sharma (chief referee) in support with Divum Gupta and Sukhdev Singh.
