radioWashington: Aiming to expand its operation in India, a US gospel radio has announced to develop its radio programming in the Telugu language.

The Tide global radio ministry, which produces radio programs that tell people about Jesus in their mother tongues, currently operates in seven languages in India – Kurukh, Santali, Odiya, Kui, Hindi, Ho and Bengali.

Programming in Telugu language is likely to be introduced by next year as part of The Tide’s Vision 2015 to develop radio programs in 15 new languages.

“Programming is also in development in the Telugu language in India,” a media release said.

“When we launched Vision 2015, the Tide had programs in 14 languages,” Tide Director Don Shenk said.

“Today, that number is 20, with several more on the immediate horizon,” he added.

New languages already added as part of the vision include the Ibibio, Anaang, Tiv and Nupe languages in Nigeria; the Tharu language in Nepal, and the Dzongkha language in Bhutan.
