Anvi’s 5-wkt haul helps Pink Panthers to win in cricket

JAMMU: Anvi’s five wicket haul helped Pink Panthers to win second match of the ongoing Royal Women Cricket Tournament Season-2 being organized by the Royal Women Cricket Club at Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar ground, here on Tuesday.
In today’s match, Pink Panthers beat Super Strikers by
Batting first after winning the toss, Pink Panthers scored 80 runs. Sarla was the top scorer with 37 runs while Sapna contributed 12 to the total. For Super Strikers, Aditi, Bushara and Sandhya took two wickets each.
In reply, Super Strikers failed to achieve the target and manage to score only 67 runs. Rudrakshi and Aditi were the main scorers with 19 and 10 runs.
For Pink Panthers, Anvi with her tight line and length clinched five wickets conceding only 8 runs in 3.1 overs while Pushpa took two wickets.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of President of the Club, Veena Sharma, Treasurer Anita Gupta, Shambhu Nath Sharma and Dr. Rupali Salathia.
the match was officiated by Satika Sharma, Meenu Salathia, Surekha Singh, Ankita Jalla, Naina Kashyap and Ashima Pathania.
In today’s match, Tarun Uppal, Chairperson Nirbhay Bharat Foundation was the Chief Guest while Gulshan Ratan was the Guest of Honour and Naveen Kaul was the Special Guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Uppal called upon the women players to participate in sports activities wholeheartedly and bring laurels to the nation and the Union Territory.
He said there is no dearth of talent among the youth, adding that there is need of the hour is to channelize it in the right direction.
He appreciated the organizers for organising a cricket tournament, saying that this would provide a platform to the interested youth in the sports to show their talent.
Tarun Uppal urged the Lt Government to make all possible steps for the promotion of sports activities by up-gradating existing and creating new sports infrastructure sports in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also assured the women players that on behalf of the Trust he would provide all possible support for a better platform for sports.
He urged upon the people particularly youth to remain stay away from social evils including drug abuses.
Tomorrow’s match will be played between Royal Mega Star and Pink Panthers.
