UP wrestler Abhi Nayak lifts 40th Salora Dangal title

KATRA: Wrestler Abhi Nayak of Uttar Pradesh lifted 40th annual Salora Dangal Title 2024 by defeating wrestler Pamma of Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab.
Winner of main bout Abhi Nayak was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 41,000 while runner-up Wrestler Pamma was given cash prize of Rs. 30,000.
In the another main bout fought between wrestler Kirti of Ludhiana in Punjab and Ishaq Ahmed (Lallu) of J&K Police of Jammu. This bout ended in a draw that lasted for 20 minutes, both the wrestlers were jointly given Rs. 70,000.
In the second bout wrestler Karan of Navy of Khanna in Punjab beat wrestler Rashid of Domana Akhara Jammu. The winner wrestler Karan was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 31,000 while runner-up wrestler Rashid was given cash prize of Rs. 20,000.
Third bout was won by Choota Jassa of Ludhiana who defeated Mam Hussain of Domel. The winner wrestler Choota Jassa was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 20,000 while runner-up wrestler Mam Hussain was given cash prize of Rs. 15,000. Fourth bout was won by Sunny of Punjab who defeated Surjit Singh of J&K Police of Reasi. The winner Sunny was given Rs. 15,000 while looser Surjit got Rs. 10,000.
In this “Kanta Kushti” vishal dangal 54 bouts were played and organizers spending around Rs. 6,70,000 on the day-long event.
Kisan Morcha BJP J&K U.T Parbhari and senior leader Nand Kishore Sharma was the Chief Guest while Shiv Kumar Sharma, former Joint Secretary J&K State Sports Council and President J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association presided over the function.
Contractor Social Activist and prominent wrestling promoter Karnail Singh, Sub Inspector Tikari Sahil Chib, Retired SP Prithvi Raj Sharma and Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri) were the Guests of Honour.
Dangal was organized by Salora Dangal Committee in association with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Rajinder Kumar alias Pithi, Arun Sharma alias Punny and contractor Tara Chand.
Members of Salora Dangal Committee who helped for smooth conduct of historic famous and Vishal dangal included Rajinder Kumar Ramotra (Pithi), Arun Sharma (Punny), Ashok Kumar, Nek Ram, Abudal Karim, Sham Lal, Ahmed Din, Shamsher Singh (Sonu), Sandeep Sharma, Ajeeta Thappa, Bullo, Bindu Seth and Baju.
Shiv Kumar Sharma lauded the participating wrestlers from Punjab, U.P, Delhi, Harayana, Himachal Pardesh and J&K U.T and congratulated the winners for their excellent performance, hoping they will be a source of inspiration for scores of budding wrestlers and Jammu and its peripheries. He also complimented the organizers, Salora Dangal Committee, espeually Rajinder Kumar alias Pithi and the other members for holding annual wrestling event on a regular basis to promote rural sports in the area.
The bouts were officiated by Krishan Singh, NIS, Wrestling Coach of J&K Police, Raj Singh and Ashok Kumar. Proceedings were conducted by Kulbir and Farooq Ali.
