JAMMU: Conducting the morning assembly on the theme Unity in diversity, Mahi Gupta of Grade IX C stated, “Diversity is what makes the world a beautiful and rich place. From the different cultures, traditions, beliefs, and lifestyles, the world is full of unique and diverse individuals”. Elaborating further on the topic, another classmate Tejaswini stated, “The concept of diversity has been a hot topic for many years now. With globalization, people from all over the world come together, making it imperative to recognize and embrace the differences that make each culture unique. In a world where people are free to express their individuality, it’s imperative to celebrate diversity”.
“It means embracing and valuing the differences that make each person special and unique. Also, embracing the rich cultural heritage and traditions through food, music, art or religion. Diversity allows us to experience different perspectives and beliefs, enriching our lives”, she added further.
Concluding her reflections on the topic, she said, “It should be celebrated not only because it is the right thing to do, but also because it has numerous benefits. It promotes inclusiveness, understanding, and tolerance helping individuals understand and appreciate different perspectives and cultures, leading to more open-mindedness and a sense of unity”.
“Celebrating diversity is about treating everyone with respect and dignity. It is about acknowledging and valuing the differences that makes each person unique. By celebrating diversity, we can build a better and more inclusive world for all”, Mahi added further.
“In addition to this, it’s imperative to understand the similarities among all humans. We all share the common essence of humanity, and it’s this humanity that we should focus on. We all share basic desires. By focusing on these shared experiences, we can help break down the barriers that often divide us”, she added furthermore.
Summing up the topic Rajesh Rathore, Principal JKPS Kunjwani recollected a great reflection made by Mark Twain, the eminent story teller from the USA in his famous book More Tramps Abroad (1897), “This is indeed India! The land of dreams and romance, of fabulous wealth and fabulous poverty, of splendour and rags, of palaces and hovels, of famine and pestilence, of genii and giants and Aladdin lamps, of tigers and elephants, the cobra and the jungle, the country of hundred nations and a hundred tongues, of a thousand religions and two million gods, cradle of the human race, birthplace of human speech, mother of history, grandmother of legend, great-grandmother of traditions, whose yesterdays bear date with the modering antiquities for the rest of nations-the one sole country under the sun that is endowed with an imperishable interest for alien prince and alien peasant, for lettered and ignorant, wise and fool, rich and poor, bond and free, the one land that all men desire to see, and having seen once, by even a glimpse, would not give that glimpse for the shows of all the rest of the world combined”.
