Union HRD Minister to inaugurate IIT Campus on Aug 6

JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, on Wednesday chaired a meeting regarding preparations for the inaugural ceremony of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu to be held on 6th August, 2016.
It was informed in the meeting that Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Prakash Javadekar shall be inaugurating the campus.
It was informed in the meeting that a total of 90 students have been enrolled at IIT Jammu- 30 each in computer science and engineering, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
The meeting had threadbare discussion on several issues regarding security arrangements for VIPs, traffic management, water and power supply etc.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all the concerned departments to make sure that all arrangements are put in place well in time.
Officers who attended the meeting included Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Danish Rana, Commissioner JMC, Dr. Manmohan Singh, Chief Engineers PDD and R&B Ashwani Kumar Gupta and Alok Mengi, Special Secretary Higher Education Department, Nitu Gupta, Superintendent Engineer PHE, Sunil Gupta, SSP Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta, SP Traffic, Suneel Raj, Professors from IIT Delhi, S.K. Gupta and Anurag Sharma besides other senior officers from various departments.
