Union Govt committed for welfare of people: Jitendra

BILLAWAR: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Sunday said the Narendra Modi Government at Centre is committed for the development and welfare of all the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the country.
While addressing gathering at Billawar, Singh said that several welfare schemes, including Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Beti Bacho Beti Padhao scheme and Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan have been launched by the Central Government for the welfare of common masses.
During the public meeting, locals projected their demands related to improvement of road connectivity, water and power supply and also demanded construction of tunnel from Mata Bala Sundari Shrine to Kathua.
The local residents also demanded re-provision of Dogra certificate for the aspirants seeking jobs in armed forces.
They also demanded installation of digital X ray machine at sub district hospital Billawar, early completion of Bhini bridge, playground at Bhaddu, with demanding opening of industries in Billawar to increase the employment opportunities for the local youths.
While responding to the demands of public, Singh said a skill development center will be opened in Billawar and also asked revenue authorities to identify land and prepare its revenue record for opening of a KV school in Billawar.
He announced a fund of Rs 12 lakh for the purchase of modern medical equipment as per the requirement in Sub District Hospital Billawar, including digital X-Ray machine for providing better health care services to the people.
Jitendra said, he had always raised the issue of having a rail link with Billawar and therefore, after he got elected as MP, he took it up with the Union Railways Minister Gajapati Raju.
He has been conveyed that they would soon carry out a survey for the purpose. He said, the Pathankot-Jammu rail line is not very far from here and therefore, by bringing this area on the railway map, the problem arising out of poor road connectivity will also get addressed to a great extent.
Referring to Billawar as an intellectually fertile land which has produced several sons of the soil who brought pride to Jammu and Kashmir as outstanding administrators, police officers and medical professionals, Dr Singh said, the region deserves reinforcement of educational facilities for which he is pursuing with the University authorities in Jammu the opening of a University Campus on the pattern of the one that exists in Kathua.
During his visit, Dr. Singh also held a meeting with the local administration.
