Udhampur wins boys’ U-19 Handball title

UDHAMPUR: Udhampur defeated the visiting side of district Poonch 21-10 to emerge Divisional winner of the inter-district Handball under-19 boys Handball tournament which held under the banner of Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) at Mini Stadium, here. Satvik Ferria remained top scorer with seven goals while Mohd Shahid defended well with six goals from Poonch. Earlier in the semifinals, Poonch beat Jammu 17-13 and Udhampur trounced Doda 16-04. Preliminary Round: Poonch beat Kishtwar 16-00; Doda beat Rajouri 6-0.
District (DYSS) officer Udhampur, Romesh Chander Mishra was chief guest in the final, who felicitated the winners and runners-up teams.
The ceremony also featured a plantation drive at the Mini Stadium, involving all players and guests. This initiative, part of the SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) program, aimed to promote environmental awareness and civic responsibility among the youth.
The technical penal comprised Manik Nargotra, Bandana Sharma, Rishi Sharma, Sanjeev Kumar, Vipin Photra, Ravi Kumar, Vikey, Sourabh Pandit, and Nitika Sharma.
