UDC demands cultural academy, press club

UDHAMPUR: To promote the culture and literary activities in the district, Udhampur Development Council (UDC) on Sunday demanded setting up of cultural academy and a press club in Udhampur.
Talking to media persons here today, UDC President Anil Paba said that setting up of press club in Udhampur is long pending demand of local media persons for organising seminars and debates.
General Secretary, Parvesh Parihar said that till date radio station has not been sanctioned in favour of Udhampur by government which is also an urgent demand.
Udhampur is the only district which has been ignored as far as its development is concerned he said adding that the district is full of talent which needs to be explored.
He further said no doubt the district has produced artists, singers and actors at national level but still there is majority of talent which needs support and if radio station is sanctioned here Udhampur will gift to nation more hidden talent.
He appealed to district administration to identify the State land for construction of cultural academy which already stands sanctioned.
UDC members appealed to authorities to fulfill the demands of masses at the earliest.
