Two years Simple Imprisonment for negligent driving

RAMNAGAR: JMIC Ramnagar Renu Dogra on Saturday awarded a punishment of two years Simple Imprisonment (SI) with a fine of Rs 2,000 to the driver of bus which rolled down killing two passengers and injuries to others.
According to the case the bus No JK02F-8511 which was rashly driven by its driver Durga Dass son of Karam Chand resident of Jandrari, Ramnagar rolled down from the road near Jandrari and fell into a 50 feet deep gorge resulting into the death of two passengers and injury to some others on 5th July, 2012.The Ramnagar Police registered the case FIR 97/12 under section 279/337304-A RPC and after investigation submitted Challan in the Court of Judicial Magistrate Ist Class (JMIC) Ramnagar.
The Court after hearing the case held the accused Durga Dass guilty of the charges and awarded punishments. The punishments include two years simple imprisonment with a fine of Rs 2,000 for offence under section 304-A, six months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 for offence under section 338, one month imprisonment and a fine of Rs 500 for offence under section 337, two months imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000 for offence under section 279 and a fine of Rs 500 for sentence under section 3/181 of MV Act. The Court also ordered that all the sentences will run concurrently.
