JAMMU: Electricity Magistrate Jammu Riyaz-ul-Haq Mirza awarded two years imprisonment to one Tilak Raj a bus driver who killed four persons namely Balwant Singh, Gyan Chand, Khushi Mohammad and Suram Chand by negligent and rash driving, after 12 years investigation and trial.
According to the police an information received through source at Police Station Gharota on 10th April, 2002 a bus No 3337-JK02E being driven by Tilak Raj in rash and negligently from Rabta Dhanu towards Jammu, when bus reached Handwal Tali Morh lost control over the vehicle and it plunged into gorge and caused accident killing four of the passengers. On this police registered a case and after completion of investigation presented Challan.
Electricity Magistrate Jammu Riyaz ul Haq Mirza after hearing Senior PO Vijay Sudan for the state whereas Advocate B R Sharma for the accused, awarded two years imprisonment under section 304-A to one Tilak Raj and one year imprisonment under section 338 and six months each for the offence under section 279/337. Court further clarified that all the sentences shall run concurrently. JNF
