Two TSOs among four CAPD officials arrested
Booked in 2012 for misappropriating BPL ration worth crores

JAMMU: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on Monday arrested two Tehsil Supply Officers (TSOs) and two Salesmen of CAPD for misappropriation of ration meant for Below Poverty Line (BPL) category in far flung areas.
The arrests were carried out four days after an exclusive report appearing in STATE TIMES on March 2, 2017 under caption “Vigilance’s ‘ineffective’ trap against CAPD since 2010 ;18 FIRs, Dirs, Asst Dirs among 50 booked; no arrest.”
The cases against the accused were registered five years ago for their involvement in swindling ration worth crores of rupees. They have been identified as Jaswant Singh TSO Hiranagar, the then Storekeeper Billawar , Amar Singh the then TSO Billawar, Beli Ram, the then Salesman Kindli and Laxman Dass Salesman Dullangal (Bani) the then Salesman Malhar of CAPD Kathua.
Sources said that the SVO is acting against all those officials, named in the STATE TIMES, against whom cases are pending disposal for the past seven years.
“Although over 18 FIRs were registered against CAPD staffers in the past seven years, involving over 50 officers/officials, for allegedly embezzling crores of rupees yet not a single arrest was made to probe the misappropriation of ration meant for the Below Poverty Line people residing in far flung areas of Doda, Ramban, Udhampur, Reasi and twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch”, according to the report published by STATE TIMES.
Vigilance SSP Amit Gupta said, “Today, four CAPD staffers have been arrested as an FIR was registered against them on the basis of joint surprise check conducted by Vigilance regarding allegations of misappropriation of food grains by Amar Singh the then TSO Billawar, Jaswant Singh (presently TSO Hiranagar) the then Store Keeper of CAPD Store Billawar, Lakshman Dass and Bali Ram the then Salesman of Malhar and Kindli Depots and others.”
