Two sisters killed in accident, people block road

UDHAMPUR: Local residents of Battal Ballain locality held a protest against the local administration and police on Dhar Road to show strong resentment against them for their failure to check the increasing road accident in Udhampur.
According to reports in a road accident two sisters including a minor died on the spot while their brother got critically injured after they were run over by a speeding Kashmir bound car near Ballian Chowk today. Dead were identified as Parshotam Devi, 5 years minor Pichi Devi both daughters of Krishan Lal and while injured was Joginder Kumar son of Krishan Lal resident of village Bareriya in Udhampur. Over this, residents of Ballian locality came on the road and held a protest against the police and local administration. Protestor blocked the Dhar Road for hours and disrupted the traffic movement on the road.
Receiving the information ADC, ACR, Tehsildar and Addl SP along with SHO Udhampur rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. All officers tried their best to defuse the situation but people did not agreed to lift protest Dharna. However after assurance given by the officers to hold an inquiry in the accident, people lifted Dharna and normalcy on the road was restored by late evening. Talking to this correspondent Deputy Commissioner Niraj Kumar said that though administration has taken the serious congnizance of road accident where in two sisters have lost their lives and got injured, However district administration will give aggrieved family possible financial support also. The police registered and launched the investigation.
