Two killed, 29 injured as mini bus carrying Baratis turns turtle

KATHUA: Two persons were killed and 29 others injured, 21 of them seriously, when the vehicle they were travelling in turned turtle in Kathua District .
The incident occurred last night when the matador bearing registration No JK08D-2995, which was on its way from Billawar to Ramkote rolled down near Phinter, killing two persons on the spot and injuring 29 others, a police officer said.
Twenty-one people with serious injuries were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu, whereas rest 8 of the 29 injured, were admitted to district hospital, Kathua, he said. The matador was carrying a Barat and was overloaded. Driver and conductor of the matador managed to flee.
The deceased have been identified as Sahil Sapolia (16), son of Bishan Dass, resident of Bagan, Billawar and Subhash Chander (30), son of Dewan Chand Dehole, Billawar.
The Billawar police has registered the case for investigation.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh expressed grief over the incident and directed the Principal Medical College, Jammu to provide necessary medical facilities to the injured.
