Two injured in Pak shelling

RAJOURI: Two people were injured when Pakistani troops resorted to shelling and firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri and Poonch districts on Wednesday.
“Two civilians have been injured in Pakistani shelling along LoC in Mendhar sector of Poonch district,” Inspector General of Police Johny William said. He said the injured have been hospitalized.
48-year-old Muhammad Saleem and 30-year-old Muhammad Rafiq – both residents of Dharana Mendhar – were injured when a motor shell landed near their house.
Meanwhile, Tehsildar Mendhar Shehzad Khan has extended Rs 5,000 each to injured. There was firing and shelling along LoC in Balakote and Mankote areas of Mendhar tehsil late in the afternoon, he said.
Earlier, Pakistani troops resorted to shelling along LoC in Bhimbher Gali sector of Rajouri district today.
“There was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in BG sector from 12.30 PM today,” Defence PRO said.
They fired automatic weapons and 82 mm mortar bombs, he said, adding it was responded to befittingly by Indian troops.
Along International Border (IB), there was no reports of firing and shelling during the night. “No firing incident was reported on IB of Jammu since night”, PRO BSF said.
On Tuesday, in the worst-ever Pakistani shelling targeting civil population on a single day, 8 people, including 2 children and 4 women, were killed and 22 others injured along IB and LOC in 5 sectors.
