SRINAGAR: The two youth who returned to Kashmir from across the border along with their families and had ran into some problems on Sunday called on Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar to express gratitude for the State Government’s timely intervention.
The minister said the government is trying to facilitate the return of youth who had crossed over to Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in early nineties for arms training, but have now shunned the path of violence and are eager to come back and live normal lives. The State Government has already put in place a rehabilitation policy for such youth and further efforts are being made to make it more comprehensive and effective, he said.
He said the matter was also taken up by the Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti during her recent meeting with the Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
He assured the returning youth that every possible help would be extended to them to ensure good schooling for their children.
The youth expressed gratitude to the State Government for facilitating their return to the State. “We are feeling happy to return as we are in Kashmir after about 26 years,” they said.
