Two-day national seminar inaugurated in JK College of Education

JAMMU: Sponsored by Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) New Delhi, two-day national seminar on the topic ‘Challenges of Integrating Values and Ethics in Present Education System’ was inaugurated in JK College of Education, here on Thursday.
The theme is appropriate in keeping in view the current scenario of falling values amongst younger generation and role of education has to be analysed to strengthen the moral values among youth.
The inauguration was held in Nelsum Auditorium where former Education Minister, Harshdev was the Chief Guest who inaugurated seminar by lighting ceremonial lamp.
Speaking about the purpose of organising the seminar, Principal, JK College of Education, Shashi Chaudhary said it is the need of the hour to talk about values and the ways to sustain them and transmit it to our future generations.
Dr. Renu Nanda, Dr Roshan Lal Dahiya and Dr Rajesh Lal were the prominent speakers on the occasion.
Professor, University of Jammu, Dr Renu Nanda, in her keynote address, reflected upon the themes and subthemes of the seminar.
Chairman JK Educational Society, Raj Daluja, Gautam Daluja Sidharth Daluja and other members of the management were also present on the occasion.
All the dignitaries were felicitated by Raj Daluja.
Brig (Retd) Sukhdev Singh also shared his views about challenges faced in imbibing the values and ethics which should be present in the present education system.
Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Punjab University, Chandigarh, Dr Roshan Lal Dahiya spoke about the values and how to channelise our emotion into positivity.
Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, Post Graduate Government College, Chandigarh, Dr Rajesh Kumar emphasised about the leadership qualities to be developed in higher education.
The day witnessed two technical sessions.
The first technical session was chaired by Dr Bhupendra Singh and Dr Rajesh Kumar and second technical session witnessed two parallel sessions chaired by Principal, Government College for Women, Parade, Prof Dr. Hemla Aggrawal, Professor, Dept of Education, University of Jammu, Dr Sushanta Kumar Panda, Dr Roshan Lal Dahiya and Dr Rajesh Kumar.
The delegates diligently dwelt upon the subthemes and the papers were discussed in the house which proved to be informative and inspirational.
The seminar is being attended by a number of delegates from different universities of the country.
