JAMMU: Two Constables and a SPO deployed with the flying squad team of Police Control Room Jammu have been arrested for extortion. They had allegedly snatched Rs 7,000 from a labourer after barging into his juggi late last night.
The complainant, Nirmal Bhuia this morning lodged a complaint with SSP Jammu Uttam Chand, who ordered an inquiry into the matter.
During inquiry, SHO Police Station Janipur Inspector Ajit Singh found that three policemen deployed with Flying -12 Roop Nagar Janipur Jammu namely Constable Rash Pal Singh (3086/J), constable Davinder Singh (3031/J) and SPO Sajjad Ahmed (84/SPO), had entered into Nirmal Bhuia’s Jhuggi in the intervening night of 30th April/1st May,2015 and took away Rs. 7000 from him .
The cops, however, in their reply, stated that they found them gambling and seized the money. Other associates of Nirmal Bhuia fled away, cops told the inquiry officer.
However, as the trio didn’t inform the seniors about any gambling incident last night and kept Rs 7,000 with them, proved that had snatched money from Nirmal Bhuia.
FIR 93/2015 under section 451/384RPC has been registered at Police Station Janipur against three policemen and further investigation of the case has been initiated.
Jammu SSP Uttam Chand said, serious view has been taken of this misconduct and all these cops have been arrested also placed under suspension.
SSP Jammu has said that there will be zero tolerance on any such criminal misconduct by men in uniform as they bring bad name to Police Department.
