Two bodies recovered from Basanter

SAMBA: Police with the assistance of SDRF/Civil Defence personnel on Friday succeeded to recover bodies of two laboureres who were washed away in Basanter River.
On 15th August 2016, four workers working in Shiridi Polymers, Phase Ist , SIDCO Samba tried to cross the Basanter River opposite Chichi Mata Temple. Two laboureres managed to cross the said river while the other two had a slip and were washed away by the undercurrent of water flowing though the said river. On receipt of the information Samba Police with the assistance of SDRP/Civil Defence personnel swung into action and carried out massive rescue/search operation till late evening hours.
On 16th August 2016, Samba Police while continuing its efforts to trace out the dead bodies recovered, the dead body of one person namely Pritam Singh son of Kanth Singh resident of Chawri, District Chamba (HP) age 35 years at a distance of about 200 meters in a deep water from the spot of drowning. However, the body of another person namely Vijay Singh son of Shanker Singh resident of Chawri, District Chamba (HP) age 17 years was recovered after hectic efforts of police and SDRF/Civil Defence personnel on 17th August 2016 and concluded the search/rescue operation. After having the autopsy of both the bodies conducted, Samba Police handed these over to their legal heirs for last rites.
