Turtuk-II lifts Horse Polo trophy

LEH: Siachen Brigade organised Horse Polo Championship with great fervour at Polo Ground, Turtuk for the villages along Shyok River Valley.
Today on the final day of the championship, in which Tyakshi, Thang and Turtuk took part, team from Turtuk-II emerged as Champions of the Tournament.
During the match Abdul Manan from village Turtuk-I was adjudged as the Player of the Tournament.
The tournament was presided over by the Tyakshi Battalion Commander of Indian Army, besides that Gulam Mehadi, Counselor, Amin polo Drass and all the Sarpanchs, Numberdars, villagers and tourists.
Locals also experienced a glimpse of Maratha culture by various cultural programmes performed by the Battalion and Balti folk dance. Speaking about the event prominent cultural/polo promoter, Amin polo said, “We are always ready to assist as we can to promote cultural and traditional sport of the region.” “When the access between Kargil and Turtuk eases after opening the road between Hanu to Turtuk we will organise such events in a grand level,” he said.
