RAJOURI: The Taste of Peer Panchal (TTPP) lifted the maiden title of Rajouri Volleyball Premier League (RVPL) which was organised by Haricane Volleyball Club at Bagnoti, here.
In the final, Taste of Peer Panchal trounced Dutta Traders in straight sets of 25-19, 25-15, 25-23. The winner side presented with Rs 10,000 cash prize and title trophy while Rs 5,000 prize money given away to runners Dutta Traders. This four-team league was first ever such event which took place in support with Rajouri District Volleyball Association under the banner of Volleyball Association of J&K (VAJK). Two other teams were Raina Stone Crusher and Choudhary Club. In the final and valedictory function of the event, incharge Rajouri District Volleyball Association, Mohd Tariq was the Chief Guest while Mangat Ram (ZPEO) was Guest of Honour. While complimenting the title winners and other participating teams, Mohd Tariq praised the Haricane Volleyball Club and its chairman Bharat Bushan for coming out with an idea to involve young spikers on professional lines.
“Such an event would go a long way in promoting the game in the district with teams buying players considering their performance and fighting spirit,” said Tariq.
Important to mention here that earlier, Charamjeet Singh (Rs 4100) and Sachin Raina (Rs 4,000) were sold for highest price in favour of Dutta Traders while Jamrodh got highest Rs 3800 went from Raina Stone Crusher for Rs 3800. Other players got from Rs 500 to 3700 booking price from four different participating teams.
Among other prominent present were Master Om Prakash, Sudershan Sudan, Gulam Hussain, Sandeep Singh Sasan, Novel Sharma (The Taste of Pir Panjal), Monu Dutta (Dutta Traders), Ekjot Singh (Raina Stone Crusher), Kunal Sharma, Rajinder Kumar, Dr. Kasho Ram, Ishfaq Hussain and, Bharat Bhushan.
