Trucker, associate held with 6 kg opium

SAMBA: Police on Tuesday arrested a trucker and his associate and recovered six kg opium from their possession.
According to a report, a police party of Police Post SIDCO headed by Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar Singh, In-Charge Police Post SIDCO apprehended accused persons namely Om Parkash son of Sodagar Mal resident of Bhamboo Chak, Ramgarh and Daljeet Singh son of Darshan Singh resident of Model Town Digiana, Jammu during patrolling at SIDCO Chowk, Samba, along with six packets of opium (1 Kg each) of market value about Rs. 5 lakh, which they had kept beneath the driver’s seat of truck bearing registration No. JK02AL-8977.
A case vide FIR No. 81/2016 under section 8/15 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Samba and investigation started. During interrogation, accused persons deposed that they have made five to six deliveries of said contraband in the area and the instant consignment was taken from Siliguri, Assam. Further investigation into the matter is going on and arrest of some more accused persons cannot be ruled out.
