Trucker arrested, 2 kg opium recovered

JAMMU: Police on Saturday arrested a trucker and recovered 2 kg opium from the vehicle at Gangyal area of Jammu City.
According to a report, on a reliable information a special Naka was laid at Kunjwani by Gangyal Police along with District Special Branch. During Naka, police singnalled a truck (JK02AR 8769) to stop but the driver of the truck tried to break the Naka however he was overpowered by police.
On search of the vehicle, 2 kg Afeem (opium) was recovered from the cabin of the truck. The driver namely Ramneet Singh alias Geetu son of Kehar Singh resident of Chattha Distt Jammu was arrested. During preliminary investigation, the accused disclosed that he had brought the consignment from Guhawati and was planning to sell it to the local youths.
A case FIR No 56 under Section 8/21 NDPS was registered at Police Station Gangyal. The arrest was made by SHO Gangyal Inspector Aejaz Wani.
