JAMMU: 15th August, the day etched in golden letters in the annals of Indian history, marks the dawn of our nation’s freedom in 1947 – a hard-earned liberty secured through the courage, sacrifices, and indomitable spirit of countless patriots.

This year, JK Public School, Kunjwani, commemorated the 79th Independence Day with a Special Assembly brimming with national pride, cultural richness, and heartfelt tributes to the heroes of our motherland.
The occasion was graced by Shashi Chaudhary, Director, JK Educational Society; Rajesh Rathore, Principal, JKPS Kunjwani; Roopinder Kaur, Vice Principal; Parvinder Kour, Academic Coordinator; Anju Raj, Primary Wing Coordinator; and Shivangani Pangotra, Toddler Wing Coordinator.
The celebration commenced with the flag hoisting ceremony, a moment that filled the air with patriotic fervour, followed by the National Anthem, echoing unity and pride across the campus. The Senior Wing’s soulful patriotic song stirred hearts, paving the way for a compelling theatrical presentation by the Drama Club depicting the trials, resilience, and ultimate triumph of India’s freedom fighters.
The Primary Wing’s evocative performance on ‘Operation Sindoor’ paid homage to the courage of the Indian armed forces, while a vibrant patriotic dance showcased the diversity and cultural splendour of the nation. A special highlight of the day was an original patriotic composition by Ankita and Ayushmaan, whose heartfelt lyrics and mellifluous voices deeply moved the audience.
In her inspiring address, Shashi Chaudhary reminded all of the immeasurable sacrifices of India’s brave sons and daughters, urging students and staff alike to safeguard this precious freedom by actively contributing to the nation’s growth and harmony.
She emphasised that true patriotism lies not only in remembering our glorious past but also in fulfilling our present duties with sincerity, discipline, and compassion, thereby shaping a future worthy of our nation’s legacy.
Echoing her sentiments, she encouraged the young learners to nurture qualities of courage, empathy, and resilience, reminding them that they are the torchbearers of India’s tomorrow. She urged every student to dream big, act responsibly, and lead with integrity, ensuring that the Tricolour always soars high with pride.
The programme concluded with a group photograph, immortalising the collective spirit of pride and responsibility. As the day drew to a close, the atmosphere was suffused with a renewed commitment – to cherish our heritage, uphold our values, and work together for a stronger, brighter India.
