Training programme on Climate Resilient Soil Management begins

JAMMU: Prof P.K Sharma, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-J inaugurated training programme on Advances in Climate Resilient Soil Management for Sustainable Hill Agriculture sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi here on Wednesday.
The programme started with the welcome address by Dr. P. K. Rai, Course Director, briefing the audience about the importance and content of the training programme.
Prof P.K Sharma made a detailed presentation on strategies for embracing climate resilient crop production in lieu of mitigating the negative impact of climate change. On this occasion, Vice Chancellor also released referral manual of training programme. The inaugural session was also attended by Prof J.P Sharma Director Research, SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. T.A.S Ganai Director Education, Prof. D.P Abrol Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. M.M.S Zama Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, various HoDs, faculty members, research scholars and students. Dr J.P Sharma highlighted the impact of climate change on agricultural productivity and stressed upon the need for management of soil and natural resources to climate-induced degradation. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr Vikas Sharma, the Coordinator of the training programme.
