Traffic violation on rise

0 128

Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily I would like to highlight that in our area no one follows traffic rules. It is ironical that even after the installation of traffic signals, road users are forced to stop at green signal by a “herd of violators”, who zoom past red lights, that too, in front of traffic policemen deployed to check such violations. Many a time, traffic cops are either seen taking rest in traffic booths or are conspicuous by their absence, notwithstanding frequent violations of traffic signals.
Moreover, traffic cops are more concerned about bringing more revenue but the violation of road traffic rules by motorists has become rampant. They will have to initiate stern action against the habitual offenders if they want to streamline the traffic in the city.
I strongly believe that until and unless the Traffic Police launches a vigorous drive against the offenders, the traffic scenario will not improve on the roads. Besides, the need of the hour is to create awareness among the people, particularly youngsters, to follow traffic norms and drive safely.
