Traders selling fake handicraft items penalised

JAMMU: An inspection team of Quality Control Enforcement Wing of Handicrafts Department on Monday inspected various business establishments selling handicraft items at Patnitop tourist spot.
The inspection team found some of the dealers indulging in cheating the tourists by selling machine made items in the name of Kashmir Handicrafts while as some other dealers were doing business without registration under the provisions of Tourist Trade Act, 1978/82.
The inspection team imposed a fine of Rs 8000 on the erring traders for violation of Tourist Trade Act, 1978/82 and asked them to register their businesses with the Directorate of Handicrafts Quality Control Wing.
