Tourism employees oppose privatisation

JAMMU: Taking strong objection to the ill advised move of the management regarding privatisation of various units of TDC, Tourism Development Corporation Employees Union (TDCEU) decided to raise its voice against such move by holding protest on 28th December.
In a joint press conference, Suresh Sharma State President JKPDTU and Lal Singh President, TDC Union lambasted the management for privatising the working of the Corporation and thus jeopardising interests of employees. Sharma warned the management to desist from going-ahead with the process.
He lamented that instead of running the corporation on commercial lines by the professionals management is being run by the bureaucrats who do not know A, B, C of hotel management. This duty of the government is being performed by corporation on socialistic pattern totally different from commercial point of view, he added. Sharma urged upon the employees to remain united for any struggle, who have been managing their units during turmoil and even in unrest in the Valley. Lal Singh and Sham Lal President and General Secretary of the Union appealed to the management to stop this process immediately otherwise the Union shall start agitation.
They declared formal affiliation of the union with JKPDTU with immediate effect and in case management fails to stop privatising TRC Bar at Hotel Residency, the union will raise its voice against such move by holding protest in front of TRC on 28th December. Ab. Manan Bhat, Nayeem Beig, Bashir Ahmed Gangoo, Mohd. Saleem Sambyal, Palvinder Singh and Ravinder Bhat were present in the press conference.
