Tourism backbone of JK economy: Parvez Ahmed

KATRA: Chairman-cum-Chief Executive Officer of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Parvez Ahmed while interacting with the representatives of Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra said that tourism is backbone of J&K economy and every help, effort and assistance would be provided to tourism and hotel industry in particular so that tourism sector gets maximum boost.
Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra team was led by its President Rakesh Wazir and accompanied by its Chairman Shyam Lal Kesar, Vice Presidents Vivek Sharma, Varun Sharma, Sardari Lal Dubey, Vikram Singh, etc. wherein former MOS Finance Pawan Gupta, Vice President and Zonal Head Udhampur Range J&K Bank Ashutosh Sareen, Cluster Head Vibhaker Khajuria, Branch Head Madan Nathyal were also present.
While speaking on the occasion Rakesh Wazir, President of the association, said that hotel industry at Katra and J&K Bank had a long bonding and most of the hotels at Katra are financed by the J&K Bank and thus the bank had got a major role in the progress of hotel and allied tourist related industries at Katra.
Wazir while elaborating the contribution of the bank being local said that in all the types of turmoil and eventualities it was only J&K Bank which came in open support of the J&K people and it becomes our duty as well to be the part of the bank in a big way.
Wazir said that while considering the effects of recent turmoils in recent months including the one that started and conditions deteriorated after the death of militant Burhan Wani, all the districts of Kashmir and only three districts of Jammu region, Jammu, Kathua and Samba were considered and the Reasi District left over for considering the relaxations to be given, which needs to be included in the list as well.
Kesar while endorsing the views of the Chairman said that vast network of the bank should be utilized to its maximum and its branches all over India should be given preference by the Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board and SMVD Shrine Board for on line bookings of these Yatras etc. and even suggested that vast network of the bank should be used for even bookings of all the hotels of the state including the government hotels,huts and other accommodations which would be win-win equation for both where the hotel industry will get the bookings of their rooms and bank will get revenue in lieu of its commissions etc.
Parvez Ahmed listened the delegation patiently and assured that bank will leave no stone un turned for the help and assistance of the hotel industry and further said that modern innovative approach would be adopted as for as the finacing and providing other facilities to the enterprenueurs of the Katra and around and further assured for maximum utilization of the J&K Bank infrastructure for the welfare of the state and people connected with Tourism industry.
