It’s time Nepal sets its priorities right

0 124

Dear Editor,
Nepalese Prime Minister K. P Sharma Oli’s frustrating moves stems from the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’s’ threat to withdraw support to the ruling coalition. Though a vacillating ‘Prachanda’ had the backing of the opposition Nepali Congress, he retracted his move for now to agree on a “national consensus government”. The recall of Nepal’s envoy to India, Deep Kumar Upadhyay, is nothing but a move aimed at warding off the Damocles’ sword hanging over the incumbent government in Kathmandu.
Oli’s perception that offending India will place him in the good books of the Nepalese is misplaced. It’s time Oli got his priorities right.
His domestic record is in tatters. The average Nepalese is sore with the government for the non-resolution of the Madhesis’ agitation, which has crippled the country’s economy.
