Tilogra residents facing water crisis threaten agitation
STATE TIMES NEWS
GANDOH: Public Health Engineering Department Gandoh seems unmoved over the problem of people living in Chilly Pingle and its surrounding areas where water supply remained affected for the past four weeks. Despite several protests by them, Public Health Engineering (PHE) officials seem to be too deep in slumber to mitigate their problems.
Residents of Chilly Pingle have been complaining about the shortage of potable water saying that they have received only hollow promises from PHE officials concerned, but have yet to get a drop of safe drinking water.
People in most of these areas depend upon natural resources like Baulis, rivulets and rivers and they are being forced to drink contaminated water from these natural resources, they said.
Taking to media person, Azher Malik said that there is acute shortage of water in our village and my parents have to walk about 4 to 5 km to fetch water from nearest natural water resource.
Another local resident, of Tilogra of Chilly Pingle Tehsil, said that we are facing lots of problems due to the non availability of drinking water in village.
Villagers have demanded a functional water supply scheme in their locality so that they get respite from their miseries.
Residents of Tilogra have also threatened the officials that they will organise a protest if the pipes are not repaired within days.
SDM Gandoh Choudhary Dil Mir urged the PHE Department to ensure speedy restoration of damaged pipes so that the water supply is resumed in the areas.
