Three-yr jail to Bangladeshi for illegal entry

JAMMU: Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu Shahzad Azeem on Thursday awarded three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 10,000 to Sajjad, son of Jabbar, resident of Pukarpada, Chottor Garh in Bangladesh for offences under Foreigners Act besides three months sentence under Passport Act, which shall run concurrently.
According to the police, the aforementioned Bangladeshi national was handed over by Company Commander, E-Coy of 126 Battalion BSF to SHO, Police Station RS Pura on 25th October, 2014 asserting that at about 8:10 PM, the intruder was apprehended at BOP, Sangral from whom, neither any articles nor any currency was recovered but his identity was ascertained as Sajjad, son of Jabbar, resident of Pukarpada, Chottor Garh in Bangladesh.
After hearing Additional Public Prosecutor (APP) Abdul Hafiz appearing for the State, the Court convicted the abovementioned accused for commission of offence punishable under Section 14 A (b) of Foreigners Act, 1946 and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for a period of three years and a fine of Rs. 10,000. In default of payment of fine, the accused shall further serve imprisonment for a period of one month.
He was also sentenced to undergo imprisonment for a period of three months for the commission of offence punishable under Section 3 of the Passport Act, 1920 read with Rule 3 of Passport Rules, 1950. All the sentences of the imprisonment shall run concurrently, the court added.
