Mysterious death of 21-yr old girl
JAMMU: Three young boys are likely to be booked in connection with mysterious death of 21-year-old Divya.
During investigations, the police have identified the boys, reported to be the friends of the deceased, who were seen last with her in the party. The arrests are likely after the postmortem report becomes available to investigators.
Divya Manhas, whose father is sick and mother working in police, died on late Friday night after she was shifted in serious condition to the Government Medical College (GMC), Jammu, for treatment by her family members.
Divya, complained of sickness after returning home from a party. As her condition deteriorated around 2:00 AM, she was shifted to the GMC for treatment, where, she failed to respond to the treatment and breathed her last.
Police investigations have revealed that Divya was accompanying three boys, whose names have been withheld as the police believe that disclosure may hamper the investigations.
“We are suspecting over-dose of drugs killed the girl”, said a police officer, adding., “Only after the 4-member Board of Doctors’ report the action against her three friends will be initiated”.
Sources said that police had on several occasions dropped Divya at home when found in intoxicated condition.
“Once the usage of drugs is established in Divya’s postmortem, we will book all her friends under NDPS Act and murder”, said a senior officer.
A team of doctors who attended Divya at GMC Hospital also found some injection marks on her arms, suggesting that she might have taken drugs and an overdose could be reason for her death, police stated.
On Saturday, a Board of Doctors was to ascertain the cause of Divya’s death. FIR has been registered at Channi Himmat Police Station and proceedings under section 174 of CrPC initiated.
