JAMMU: Organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Thang-Ta Association, the Fifth Federation Cup started on Saturday at Indoor Complex of the MA Stadium, here. The opening day witnessed weighing and completion of the registration process at the venue.
As per a handout issued by the organisers, around 500 participants have reported with the registration committee as also 100 officials drawn from different parts of the country.
Earlier, four-day event was declared open by Minister of State for Transport and Sports, Sunil Sharma, who was chief guest. Member Legislative Assembly (MLA), Rajesh Gupta was Guest of Honour.
Both the special guests interacted with the participants and officials. They also witnessed a couple of bouts of the preliminary round amidst encouragement to those budding talent from the host State.
Prominent among others present were Joint Secretary, J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Divisional Sports Officer of the Sports Council, Rajan Sharma and Manager Indoor Complex, Satish Gupta.
