Terror funding: SIA Jammu attaches properties in Amritsar

JAMMU: The State Investigation Agency (SIA), Jammu on Tuesday attached properties belonging to absconding accused in Amritsar, Punjab.
An official said that SIA Jammu, in pursuance of court orders, carried out proceedings of attachment of immovable properties of Amarbhir Singh alias Gopi Mahal, son of Rajwinder Singh, resident of Baba Darshan Singh enclave, Ram Tirath Mahal, Amritsar, an absconding accused in case FIR No 429 /21 under Sections 17, 18, 20, 38, 39 and 40 UA (P) A, 3/25 IAA, 193, 201 IPC of Police Station Nagrota/SIA Jammu.
“The proceedings of attachment of immovable properties were conducted in presence of Executive Magistrate, respectable persons of the vicinity and during the execution of court orders by the SIA team Punjab Police provided the necessary assistance,” official said.
“SIA has already filed chargesheet before court with regard to terror financing case in which initially two associates of terrorists were arrested in 2021 and Rs 15 lakh was seized from their possession,” official said adding that further investigation of the case made it clear that the amount was being transported from Punjab to Kashmir for financing the terror activities of Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The arrested persons were in constant touch with their handlers across the border as well as with the terrorists in south Kashmir and Punjab, official said adding that investigations has revealed that the accused Parvez and Farooq had conspired with Muzammil Malik and accused Ashiq Nengroo and knowingly facilitated the movement of terror funds which were to be further distributed to JeM terrorists operating in Valley for launching terrorist attacks in India.
