Temple, 3 houses gutted

BHADARWAH: A temple and three residential houses were gutted while some got partially damaged in a fire incident in village Chingaam of Kishtwar District last night.
According to reports, three residential houses and an ancient Chandi Mata Temple came under mysterious blaze in district Kishtwar’s Chingaam area in Chatroo Tehsil, about 52 km from Kishtwar. Locals and police immediately started the operation to douse the fire, which was spreading very rapidly as the fire started from middle of the village and all the adjoining structures are mostly made of dry cedar and pine wood. “As we saw the flames coming, we immediately raised the alarm as a result of which the local villagers, police and the people from adjacent villages immediately rushed to the affected village and started rescue operation,”said a villager.
The three residential houses which were gutted in this tragic fire incident belong to Roshan Lal son of Nek Ram Thakar, Bodh Raj son of Mangta Thakar and Mangat Ram son of Jai Ram Thakar all residents of Bachen Daangar Nallah Chingaam. Police has taken cognizance of fire incident and started investigation. “Preliminary reports suggest that the fire started due to short circuit,” police official said.
