KATRA: Wrestler Tejveer of Rohtak in Harayana won 53rd Mari Kambal Danga (Reasi) Dangal Title 2016 by defeating wrestler Benia Min of J and K Police in the final bout that lasted for 24 minutes held at Kambal Danga in District Reasi.
Dangal was organised by Jai Peer Baba Dangal Committee Mari Kambal Danga (Reasi) in collaboration with J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of President of the Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma and Advocate Pawan Dev Singh.
Joint Secretary, J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma was the Chief Guest who distributed cash prizes among the wrestlers.
Advocate Pawan Dev Singh, a social activist and wrestling promoter presided over the function.
Manager HR NHPC Jugal Kishore and Naib Tehsildar Reasi Suraj Singh were the Guests of Honour.
Prominent persons present were Sarpanch Kesari Singh, Ratten Singh, Mohan Lal Bali, Suram Chand, Naresh Kumar (Papu Lakri) and Sarpanch Masheshwar Singh.
Winner of the title bout, wrestler Tejveer was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 18,000 while runner-up wrestler Benia Min got Rs. 13,000. General Manager NHPC Salal A.G Ansari contributed Rs. 10,000 as financial assistance to the organisers.
Wrestler Gurmail of BSF Chandigarh was declared Best Wrestler of the Dangal who was awarded with cash prize of Rs. 500 along with Maa Ki Chuni by Shiv Kumar Sharma, Sarpanch Maheshwar Singh, Pawan Dev Singh and Dalip Singh.
In all 47 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal.
Second main bout was won by Gurmail of BSF Chandigarh who defeated Mohd. Nisar of Doda. Third bout was also won by Gurmail of BSF who defeated Ishaq (Lalu) of Bajrangi Akhara Jammu. Fourth bout was won by Amir Khan of Nargota who defeated Romesh of Rohtak (Harayana).
Members and technical officials who helped for the conduct of this wrestling event included Sarpanchs Maheshwar Singh, Dalip Singh (Chairman), Advocate Pawan Dev Singh, Sarpanch Suram Chand, Sarpanch Mohan Lal Bali, Murad Ali, Balbir, Singh, Jasbir Singh, Pawan Singh, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Deepak Wazir, Mohd. Fareed, Capt Lehar Singh (Retd.), Rajinder Kumar Ramotra, Kartar Singh, Deeraj Kesar and Murli Dhar (Munna).
Other Results :- Pritam Singh of Reasi beat Tariq of Doda, Babba of Kot Bhawal defeated Sukha of Ludhiana, Javed of Merrut beat Dillar Khan of J and K Police, Dinu of Kathua trounced Kala of Ludhiana, bout played between Kulbir Singh of Kot Bhawal and Sagar of Delhi ended in a draw.
