Teenager kidnapped, murdered

Jammu: A teenager, who had left home for computer training at Janipur area here was kidnapped and murdered, officials said on Thursday.
Police arrested Kishtwar native Satinder Kumar (23) for the crime, they said.
As per details, on November 29, 2023 at around 1315 hrs, Parhald Singh informed through PCR that his son Raghav Jamwal alias Raghu, resident of Nardani Raipur Bantalab, aged around 19, has been Kidnapped by some unknown person. Raghav left for Janipur for computer training, but didn’t reach there.
On this, Police parties from Police Post Chinore and Police Station Domana immediately fanned out in the area and came to know that Raghav has not come to the Computer training centre at Janipur. FIR No 355/2023 under Section 363 was registered in the concerned police station and SP Rural and SDPO Domana were directed to personally supervise the search conducted by police parties. Through human and technical intelligence, police was able to zero in on the kidnapper.
After hectic efforts, the kidnapper was traced out from his rented accommodation at Patoli during the intervening night and mobile phone of the victim was recovered from his possession, which he had been used to make ransom calls.
The accused has been identified as Satinder Kumar, son of Chunni Lal, resident of Main Bazar Kishtwar, presently at Patoli. He was acting alone in this crime.
The body of the deceased Raghav Jamwal alias Raghu was recovered on the disclosure of accused from a jungle area, adjoining Raipur Khari-Jagti link road where there is no habitation. The accused admitted to killing the victim Raghav with stone hit on his head at around 1045-1100 am on November 29, 2023.
The accused was known to victim for the past 4-5 years. After conducting necessary legal formalities the police shifted the dead body to GMC,Jammu for conducting postmortem. Further investigation to unravel the circumstances leading to the crime is going on.
