JAMMU: Expressing concern over recovery of huge quantity of Heroin and Brown Sugar by the Jammu Police, Team Jammu on Wednesday said that it is just a tip of an iceberg because narcotic business worth crores and crores is still flourishing in J&K.
“We appreciate and congratulate those police officers/officials who have busted international gang of narcotics smugglers by recovering 10 kilograms of Heroin and same quantity of Brown Sugar but lot more needed to be done because drug mafia is very powerful and influential”, Chairman of the Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal said.
While addressing a meeting convened by Members of Team Jammu here today, following recovery of huge contraband of Narcotics here in the city periphery, Zorawar Singh pointed out that first time such a huge quantity of narcotics has been recovered and its appreciable on the part of all those police officers who busted the inter-state gang of Narcotic smugglers.
“It is very unfortunate that our Legislators are wasting time in discussing issues, which are of far less priority in the Upper and Lower Houses of the Legislature but not even a single question has been raised regarding flourishing of drug business in J&K besides holding a debate on the need of the hour to sharpen the prevailing NDPS Act to tighten the noose of drug mafia and drug lords”, said Zorawar Singh Jamwal.
“Our State Legislative Assembly should conduct debate on this menace so that a policy should be formulated to deal with this menace which is slowly claiming lives of innocent youths of the State”, he said and again appealed the MLAs/MLCs of all the political parties to take this issue seriously.
