Team Jammu adopts two meritorious students

UDHAMPUR: Continuing its campaign to provide help to the needy and deserving lot of the society, Team Jammu on Saturday adopted two meritorious students, belong to remotest area of Udhampur district, to ensure that these two students continue their studies.
In a function held today at Udhampur, Team Jammu- an organisation of young professionals, social activists, sports persons, doctors, journalists, educationists and intellects, adopted two students namely Kanta Devi and Som Raj, both belong to remotest Dudo-Basantgar area of Udhampur district. Som Raj, an orphan, had passed 8th standard of examination but due to financial condition, he was not able to continue his further study.
As local people brought this matter to the notice of Team Jammu, volunteers decided to bear all expenses related to their education. Team Jammu, headed by its Chairman Zorawar Singh Jamwal, today visited Udhampur along with other members to formal adopting both the students for pursuing their education. It was announced that Team Jammu will bear all expensive of their education in future.
Later a seminar was organised by Shivalik College of Education in collaboration with Happy Model Higher Secondary School, presided over by chairman of the College Dr Vikram Gulati. Students of both these educational institutes participated in the seminar in which speakers threw light on drug abuse in Jammu region.
Speaking on the occasion, chairman of Team Jammu, Zorawar Singh Jamwal emphasised on the need of creating awareness among students and young generation to liberate Jammu from the yoke of drug abuse. He said that most parts of the Jammu are gripped with the menace of drug abuse and it is need of the hour to create awareness among people in this regard.
Seeking support of students, Jamwal said that they would take their war to the logical conclusion with the support of the people. “The way people, especially the youth, are coming forward in our campaign has encouraged us”, he said and reiterated commitment of the Team Jammu to liberate youth of Jammu region from the yoke of drugs. He said that it was responsibility of youth to make Jammu free from drugs.
On the occasion, the entire gathering specialty the youth took a pledge to fight war against drug menace.
Other who present on the occasion include Chandan Dutta, Pardeep Bakshi, Ranjit Parihar, Rajesh Vidyarthi, Amit Mahi, Sourab Sagar, Ashwani Sharma and Anil Dubey.
