Dear Editor,
The fact that the ruling BJP is now facing political heat from even its allies on the EPF tax issue proves a point that it was a flawed idea in the first instance. A whole year was at the disposal of the Finance Ministry for it to have mulled over the pros and cons, so how could it even think of bringing savings of a lifetime under the taxation ambit? Jaitley, please spare a thought for the common man already facing a hard time with inflation and taxes both direct and indirect.
