Tawi Trekkers selects climbers for IMF camp

JAMMU: To support Mountaineering Association of J and K to win the North Zone Sport Climbing Championship this year, Tawi Trekkers J and K, the pioneer trekking club of the State, has selected three talented sport climbers of J and K for advance coaching in sport climbing at Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF), New Delhi.
This was announced by the general secretary of Tawi Trekkers, Shawetica Khajuria at the conclusion of the 10-day coaching camp sponsored by the Club at Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu.
The selected climbers include Asma Gul of Sprawling Buds School, Jammu, Ajay Deep and Arun Deep, both of Shining Star Academy, Muthi. The three climbers of sub-junior category have been selected on the basis of their performance during the coaching camp.
During the week long training at international standard climbing walls and gym at IMF, New Delhi, the apex body for adventure sports in the country, the budding climbers shall be imparted coaching by national coaches and international climbers.
Addressing the trainees on the concluding day, Shawetica Khajuria assured them to provide all possible training facilities to the state climbers to enable them to perform to their full potential in the zonal and national competitions and bring laurels to the state. To popularize and promote sport climbing among the girls the club would also sponsor three suitable girls for advance training at IMF, she added.
