Tawi Trekkers holds camps at Nud

JAMMU: To popularise adventure sports among school students during winter season, Tawi Trekkers J and K, a premier adventure sports organisation of the State, shall organise a series of camps at Nud in the district.
During the day-long camp, starting from January 22, the budding climbers shall be imparted training in rappelling, slithering, jumaring and art and craft of various other techniques of rock climbing besides artificial river crossing, negotiating a Burma bridge and a short trek.
For all the activities only international standard equipment, duly approved by Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme (UIAA), the apex body for climbing in the world, shall be used.
Highly trained and experienced climbers shall supervise the camp which includes, besides rock climbing, some other activities necessary for the overall personality development of a child.
Two best climbers (one girl and one boy) of each camp shall also be honoured on the spot. However, every participant shall be awarded a participation certificate. The participation fee per participant which includes transportation, lunch and evening tea with snacks is Rs 300.
