JAMMU: Convenor of Tawi Andolan, Chander Mohan Sharma disclosed that Tawi Parikarma Motor Rally is to be flagged off on 31st May from MAM Stadium at 7:00 AM.
“The rally will take round of Surajputri Tawi and cover some of the Bazaars of the city to touch the heritage sites which are standing witness of glorious days of River Tawi,” he told reporters, here on Thursday.
Sharma expressed his satisfaction over the statement of Sukhnandan Kumar Minister of Irrigation and Flood Control that work over construction of Artificial Lake will not stop and shall continue vigorously.
Convener of Tawi Andolan said that twin aims of the Motor Rally are to seek public corporation and to highly the miserable condition of River Tawi.
Sharma said that previous governments hand converted Tawi into a Dustbin of city by dumping garbage and allowing flow of dirty water nallas into the river and made it most polluted water body of the province.
He said that need of the hour is to divert all the big Nallah’s such as Pacci Dhaki, Jewel Chowk, Bakshi Nager, Roop Nager, Gujjar Nager, Kalijanni, Rehari Bus-adda, Partap Garh, Krishna Nager, Mastgarh, Nagrota into a full-fledged channel to lead them to treatment Plant.
Sharma alarmed the department that unless all these Nallahs are diverted and treated, the purpose of artificial lake will not be fulfilled and the people of Jammu shall not tolerate it.
