Narendra Modi, as Prime Minister of India, underwent his swearing-in ceremonies on two occasions, in 2014 and 2019. Both events were significant and drew considerable attention due to the scale and importance of the office. Narendra Modi’s first swearing-in ceremony as Prime Minister took place on May 26, 2014, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The ceremony was attended by a wide array of dignitaries, including foreign leaders, political figures, and celebrities. Modi took the oath of office administered by the then-President of India, Pranab Mukherjee. This event marked the beginning of Modi’s first term as Prime Minister, following the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the general elections. Narendra Modi’s second swearing-in ceremony occurred on May 30, 2019, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Similar to the first ceremony, it was attended by numerous dignitaries, including leaders of SAARC nations, BIMSTEC countries, and other special invitees. President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office to Modi and his council of ministers. This ceremony marked the start of Modi’s second term as Prime Minister after the BJP secured a decisive victory in the general elections. Now, the third swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the General Elections 2024 is scheduled on June 9, 2024. Modi to take the oath of office being administered by the President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan to administer the oath of office to Narendra and his council of ministers. Similar to the first and second ceremony, it will be attended by leaders from India’s neighbourhood and Indian Ocean region as distinguished guests. The visit of the leaders to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term is in keeping with the highest priority accorded by India to its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and ‘SAGAR’ vision.
