As the whole nation was observing Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, in Jammu city there were some spots filled with garbage and filth and stray dogs fighting over the heap was a common sight. Just by wielding a broom and posing for photo ops the Abhiyan is not going to bring any sense of cleanliness among the residents of the city. There is a need for creating awareness among masses for keeping the streets, water bodies and rivers clean from dirt and garbage and disposal of garbage at appropriate places away from residential areas and identification of suitable land for Solid Waste Management Project.
