JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) on Tuesday caught red handed one Mohammad Shafi, Clerk in the Sub Treasury, Dharmari Reasi while demanding and accepting bribe from an employee of Public Health Engineering (PHE).
Inder Singh, Lineman, PHE Dharmari had lodged a written complaint with SVO, stating therein that Shafi demanded Rs. 5,000 in order to release his GP Fund.
On receipt of complaint, FIR 24/15 under section5(2) P.C. Act Svt. 2006 read with 161 RPC Police Station VOJ was registered and investigation taken up.
The trap team, headed by DySP V K Bhat, laid a successful trap in which the accused Mohammad Shafi was caught red handed while demanding and accepting Rs 5,000 as bribe from Inder Singh.
The baited amount was recovered from the possession of the accused Clerk in presence of an independent witness. The accused was arrested on the spot and further investigation has been set in motion.
