SVO registers FIR against SHO Ramnagar

JAMMU: The State Vigilance Organisation Jammu has registered FIR against Inspector Deepak Pathania under section 5(1) (d) read with section 5(2) PC Act 2006 for allegedly demanding and accepting Rs 1. 5 lakh for releasing three persons allegedly framed in a murder case.
Demanding, accepting Rs 1.5 lakh from ‘murder accused’
According to SVO, the Ramnagar Police in connection with investigation of FIR 60/2014 registered under section 302 RPC, arrested a number of persons including the three innocent persons namely Koob Ali, Gaav Ali and Tariq Ali. They were kept in illegal custody by the SHO for about one month without reflecting their confinement in daily dairy. Meanwhile kith and kin of the trio approached the SHO for their release and by abusing his position, the accused SHO coerced the kiths and kin of the three arrested persons to pay gratification of Rs 50,000 for release of each.
The verification further found out that the kith and kin arranged Rs 50,000 each and paid the same to the SHO as gratification for release of the three innocent persons.
After completion of the investigation, the SVO has registered FIR against Deepak Pathania SHO Ramnagar under sections 5(1) (d) r/w section 5(2) PC Act 2006.
The SVO conducted the investigations on the complaint filed by one Banoo, wife of Ghulam Ali resident of Jagir Ghordi Ramnagar that the SHO demanded and accepted Rs 1.5 lakh.
